Licensed in Minnesota & Wisconsin

Tony has over 25 years of experience working with communications, technology, and entertainment clients. He advocates for his clients across all levels of government.  Tony helps his clients negotiate and close complex commercial transactions involving regulated companies, obtains regulatory approvals, and advocates for clients in regulatory litigation matters.  Tony assists entertainment artists with complex transactions involving copyright and trademark interests, as well as entertainment related litigation.  Tony is an active member of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Communications Law Section.

Tony is the Owner and President of Mendoza Law, founded in 2003.  Tony founded Mendoza Law after serving as Deputy Commissioner for the Telecommunications Division of the Minnesota Department of Commerce.  Prior to working for the State of Minnesota, Tony worked for 5 years with Fredrikson & Byron.  Like many of his entrepreneurial clients, Tony is proud to tell the story of starting his law firm in his basement with a computer, a telephone, and some office supplies.  In 2015, Tony opened a new office in the heart of St. Paul’s Midway District, on the Green Line light rail line.

Tony is very active in his community and has donated thousands of pro bono hours to various non-profit organizations, including Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights (for which he was named the Volunteer of the Year in 1996), the Minnesota Music Academy (he was Executive Producer of the Minnesota Music Awards in 1997 and 1998), The Friends School of Minnesota, where he clerked the School Committee and chaired the 20th Anniversary Capital Campaign. Tony currently serves on the Midway Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors. Tony is particularly proud to have co-founded the Minnesota Music Coalition in 2010 and serve on its board for 11 years.  He is also a former professional musician (who still plays out once in a while).
